Powertex International has a global appearance. Powertex and related products are available in more than 40 countries through our extensive network of wholesalers. Brigitte Grade and her daughter Esther have owned the company since its inception in 2001. Brigitte Grade has been an independent artist since 1993 and an established value in the art world at home and abroad. Brigitte has a lot of experience with various textile hardeners since 1995. She felt that they could all be improved and took a laundry list of requirements to a laboratory technician / chemist, who came up with a number of new formulas for her after a long study.

From 2001 till now worldwide

Brigitte threw herself into extensive testing with a small team. Powertex was born very quickly and everyone unanimously agreed on the top quality of that one single outlier. Powertex was born in the summer of 2001 and launched at the hobby saloon in Mechelen in September. In no time, this formula conquered the Benelux, followed by various countries in Europe. Not long after, the rest of the world followed and history was written. Powertex has been promoted at countless fairs. The workshops were always fully booked everywhere. Everyone wanted to learn from Brigitte. Teachers worlwide teached by Brigitte are teaching now their Powertex Tutors. Powertex appeared in many hobby magazines and became increasingly well-known among artists.

From textile hardener to Universal Medium

Powertex was called Universal medium at one point because it is so much more than just a textile hardener. Initially Powertex was mainly used for making sculptures, large garden statues and decorations. But Brigitte’s creativity did not stop and she developed jewelry in Powertex and Stone Art. Painting is in the heart and soul of Brigitte. That is why she started to experiment with Powertex on canvas in combination with all possible materials. Everyone became wildly enthusiastic and almost everyone started using Powertex Universal Medium in paintings. Numerous people practicing Living Statue do harden their clothing with Powertex. They have won awards worldwide. Powertex Australia is a champion in fashion with Powertex. Even Japan and Taiwan are completely fond of Powertex. From floral ornamental art to occupational therapy in hospitals, nowadays you have Powertex everywhere in every discipline.

Made in Belgium means rock-hard quality. Belgean chocolate is known as the best in the whole world, so is Powertex. All our water-based products are filled in our warehouse in Londerzeel by an entire team. Esther takes care of the logistics backed up by a whole team.

Stone Art has currently being developed and filled in India by our Indian distributor. There is a daily search for new techniques, products and developments to continue to support your creativity. Brigitte and Paul (her husband responsabel for all administration) traveled a lot in 2019 to teach Powertex painting techniques. Due to Covid19, traveling and teaching is on hold. As soon as we are allowed to travel again, we will certainly travel again to teach.
